With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Martha Schwartz, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and faithful servant of the Lord. Martha entered into the presence of her Savior, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, deep love for her family, and a life devoted to serving others.
Martha loved the Lord with all her heart and faithfully served at Grace Fellowship Church, where she was an active and cherished member. Her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and steadfast faith were evident in the way she loved those around her. She found joy in worship, fellowship, and sharing God’s love with everyone she met.
Martha found peace and happiness in God’s creation. She loved camping and treasured every opportunity to spend time outdoors. Being outside brought her a sense of peace that reflected her appreciation for God’s handiwork.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Martha R.Reta Harrison; her brother, Michael Marley McDowell; her beloved granddaughter, Tori Leah Schwartz; and her nephew, Shawn McDowell.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her father, Allan “Pops” Harrison; her brother, Lionel McDowell; and her sister, Shelly McDowell Milsap (husband Thomas Milsap)
Martha was a devoted mother to her children, Barry McDowell, Amy; William “Billy” Schwartz (wife, Tiana) of Baird, Texas; and Summer Mason of Abilene, Texas.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Andrew Schwartz, Brennan Mason(wife, Lexi); Chase Mason; Trenaty Bell (husband, Dawson); William “Little Billy” Schwartz; Kristyn Scott; Jordan Browning; and Boston Browning.
Her greatest joy continued with her great-grandchildren, Jonah Browning, Oden Sloan, and Lylah Gayle Scott, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Though our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Martha’s faith has become sight. She has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and now rests in the eternal peace and joy of the Lord.
Her kindness, faith, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Until we meet again, we will remember her with gratitude, honor her by living faithfully, and rejoice in the promise that because of Christ, this is not goodbye—but until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Fellowship Church, 910 Cypress St, Abilene, TX 7960, on June 27, 2026, at 11:00 am.
