Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Ira "Butch" Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery, Hodges, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marvin was born to Barnie and Annie Bell Woodard on November 23, 1932 in Jones County, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Marvin married Minnie B. King on February 13, 1953. He retired from Abilene State School after many years of service. Marvin was a member of the Gospel Assembly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; three sisters; and a daughter, Teresa.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Minnie Woodard of Abilene; sons, Terry Woodard and Anthony Woodard; daughters, Tonja (Roston) Dunman and Tammy Mitchell; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; a brother, Jerrel (Johnnie) Woodard; and a sister, Martha (John) Joyce.
