Michael Calvert

Michael Lee Calvert, 62, passed away on October 29, 2010, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 4933 South 7th, Abilene, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mike was born February 6, 1948 in Sigourney, Iowa. He was raised and attended schools in this area. He married Dorothy Joyce Calvert on May 30, 1968 in Thornburg, Iowa. They moved from Iowa to the Abilene area in 1980. He worked in car sales for over 20 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and a past Master Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.

Mike lived his life for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Joyce Calvert, in April 2010; his mother, Margaret Calvert, in September 2010; and his father, Leslie Calvert.

Survivors include four children, Matthew Calvert and wife Sandra of Trent; Mitchel Calvert and wife Rene of Christoval; Marty Calvert and wife Lisa of Abilene; Michelle Podruchny and husband Rick of Trent. Father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Dorothy Adams of What Cheer, Iowa. One brother, Steve Calvert and wife Peggy of Iowa; one sister Connie Axmear and husband John of Iowa; and ten grandchildren: Mark, Marshall, Kaylee, Rachel, Emma, Justin, James, Katie, Mason, and Michael.
