Mildred Louise “Weasy” Perkins of Sipe Springs, TX peacefully transitioned from this life to the next on Monday, September 3rd, 2018. She was surrounded by her daughters and many of her grandchildren as they shared stories, held her hands and loved her through every step of her journey. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, September 7, 2018 in Sipe Springs Cemetery.
She was born on July 31, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Raymond Levi Roberts and Martha Ellen Redmon. As the youngest of 6 kids, Weasy was always proud of being “the baby” of the family. She often reminisced about her childhood and how times were tough, but there was always plenty to go around for the entire family, plus a few extra friends that her and her siblings might have dragged in with them. She always said, even when money was lean there was always plenty of love to go around and that she had a wonderful childhood. On July 23, 1955 she married the love of her life, Cecil Elwayne Perkins. Together they had 4 amazing, beautiful and talented children and numerous grandchildren.
Weasy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Levi and Martha Ellen Roberts; sisters, Helen Marie, Geraldine, and Freda Lee; brother, Charles Ray “Pokey”; her husband, Cecil Elwayne after nearly 53 years of marriage; her son, Cecil Ray Perkins; daughter, Susan Louise Perkins; and grandson Gavin Aaron Perkins.

A lifelong “gamer”, Weasy never played a board game, card game, dice game or dominoes that she didn’t like, except maybe monopoly. But her favorite game was bingo, though she always lamented the fact that she wasn’t as avid of a winner at bingo as she was a player.
Weasy’s greatest pride in her life was being a Mama and a Granny. She was extremely proud of each one of “her kids”. She had such an uncanny ability to give each one of us such a special relationship with her, that it is not uncommon for the grandkids to get into a heated debate over who is Granny’s “#1”. The truth is, they all are her favorites and she loved each one of them with everything she was. For Weasy, family wasn’t only defined by blood. Through her years she has developed many special and close friendships, welcoming each of them into her fold with open arms.
Weasy will be remembered by all who loved her for her big heart, her unfaltering love, her quick wit and her sharp tongue.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”- 2 Timothy 4:7-8
