

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview, with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation at 6:00 p.m. Sunday with a rosary following at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Minerva was born October 10, 1942 to Elisa (Proa) and Juan Herrera in Nueva Rosita, Coah Mexico. She married Guadalupe Vasquez and to this union seven children were born. Minerva was a member of Creative Ladies of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, Relay for Life, and St. Matthew Catholic Church in Arlington. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Minerva was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Vasquez; three sisters, Amelia Rodriguez, Lupe Uranga, and Celia Leija; and a brother, Ernesto Proa.
Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe B. Vasquez of Arlington, Texas; three sons, Julio Vasquez and wife, Shelley, Tony Vasquez and wife, Kimberly, and Manuel Vasquez, all of Arlington; three daughters, Lucy Montgomery and husband, Brian, of Amarillo, Texas, Louisa Sotelo and husband, Joe, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Isabel Melchor and husband, Eddy, of Arlington; fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
