Minnie Irene Adrian

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Southwest Park Baptist Church, with Reverend Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Irene was born March 13, 1925 to James and Cora Vann in Copperas Cove, Texas. She married Conley Joe Adrian on February 8, 1964. Upon Joe's retirement from Dyess Air Force Base, they decided to make Abilene their home in 1966. Irene went to work for the nursery at Southwest Park Baptist Church where she continued to share her love for kids for 30 years. She was always surrounded by kids. Irene was also licensed to keep children in her home. She was always active with anything outdoors. Through her school years and most of her adult years, Irene was always the pitcher for softball leagues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cora Vann; her husband, Conley Joe Adrian; five brothers; two sisters; and great-grandson, Cayden Montez.

Survivors include a daughter, Vola Martinez and husband, Albert, of Abilene; four grandchildren, Ashley Montez, Isreal Montez, Skye Montez, and Alexandria Montez; eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, C.J., Alexis, Gabriel, Madison, Noah, Taya, and RaeLee.
