Greg was born in Eagle Lake, Maine, to Maurice and Thelma (Ouellette) Saucier on May 20, 1957. He graduated from Ashland Community High School in 1975 and entered the United States Air Force on July 29, 1975. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant on January 31, 1997 with over 21 years of dedicated service. While on active duty, Greg was stationed in Arizona, New York, South Korea, Alaska, and Texas. While stationed at Plattsburgh AFB in New York, Greg met and married his wife Colette (Desautels) and they celebrated 34 years of marriage on July 25th. Following retirement, Greg worked for several contractors in the Abilene area before returning to Dyess AFB as a Department of Defense civilian. He retired from the Air Force a second time as the Foreman of the Structures Shop in February 2019.
Greg’s favorite hobby was hunting, and the highlight of his year was the annual trip to Maine to hunt partridge with his siblings. He considered himself blessed to have been able to spend the summers of 2019, 2021, and 2022 at the family camp on St Froid Lake in Maine. Greg was all about family, and he dearly loved and cherished his.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Maurice and brother Stanley.
Greg is survived by his wife Colette; his daughters: Angela (Jason) Sinclair, Amanda (Kevin) Walker, and Trisha (Donnie) Davis; his grandchildren John and Cody Walker, Ashlyn and Brooke Sinclair, and Haley and Christina Davis; and two great-grandchildren Daisy and Alvin Hosli. Greg is also survived by his mother Thelma Ouellette Saucier, siblings Rachel (Richard) Parent, Marguerite Rutherford, Jeffrey (Vicki) Saucier, Michael (Kelley) Saucier, Marie (Chris) Fennell, Carrie (Lou) Lorenzo, Todd (Dee) Saucier, Bruce (Heidi) Saucier, and his brother Stanley’s fiancé Heidi Bradstreet. Greg also leaves behind his wife’s family: sisters-in-law Michele (Ken) Gladd, Noelle (Erik) Mesunas, and Ann Bilow; brothers-in-law Stanley (Kate) Desautels, Michael (Dianna) Desautels, Philip (Teresa) Desautels, Ross Desautels, Steve Desautels (Tina Kendrick), and Christopher Desautels, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews and a multitude of Ouellette and Saucier cousins.
At Greg’s request, a funeral mass will be celebrated in his home parish of St Mark’s in Ashland, Maine, at a later date. There will be no services or calling hours in Abilene.
Anyone who knew Greg, or any of the Saucier siblings, knew he was a character. With his father Maurice and brother Stan preceding him into heaven, the remaining siblings may need to worry that the good Lord has had enough of the Saucier sense of humor and may very well decide the three of them are more than enough.
Memorials in Greg’s memory may be made to Love & Care Ministries, 233 Fannin Street, Abilene TX 79603, or the Food Bank of West Central Texas, 5505 North 1st Street, Abilene TX 79603.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elliott-hamil.com for the Saucier family.
