

Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., with Rev. Felicia Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
Muriel was born to Valentine Palmer and Nellie M. Goodall in Westport, Massachusetts on September 30, 1928. She moved to Abilene from Fort Bragg, N.C. in 1975. Muriel worked with the Girl Scouts while living in North Carolina. She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to her children. Muriel was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and also worked in the nursery there as well.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, John Landry, Jr.; and three brothers, Valentine Palmer, Jr., Jim Palmer, and Bill Palmer.
Survivors include her husband, John Landry of Abilene; two sons, Howard Adams of Florida and Dustin Landry of Oregon; three daughters, Marjorie Little and husband, Tim of Bakersfield, CA, Sandra Leggett and husband, Robert of Merkel, and Jessica Landry of Abilene; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
