Nancy Louise Isom

Nancy Louise Isom, 78, of Merkel, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Abilene. She was born on August 18, 1945 in Anson, Texas to the late Oliver David Nichols and Cullen Comella Cowen Nichols.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 12, 2024 at Fort Phantom Hill Baptist Church, 11343 FM1082, Abilene, TX 79601. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery.

Nancy was preceded in death by loving husband, David Noble “Dick” Williams; her siblings Audie Lucille “Tiny” Nichols, Oliver Doyal Nichols, Comella Williams, Harvey Nichols, Billy Mack Nichols, and Tommy Nichols; as well as stepson and grandson Randy and Michael Williams.

She is survived by her two brothers John D. Nichols and Jay Boyd Nichols and wife Alice; as well as by Aunt Jo Anne Mashburn.

She also leaves behind her children David Ray Davis, Kristen Walter, Jennifer Pickens, and Jay Dale Akin and wife, Pam; as well as stepchildren Laura and Greg Dankworth, and Becky and Phil Davison. Her grandchildren include Amy and Scotty Allen, Misty and Josh Ewell, Ashley and Zane McBride, TJ Davis, Cory Carpenter, Larry and Allie Reyna, Miranda and Michael Shea, Justin Reyna, Carolyn Sola, Lilly Sola, Caleb Walter, Joshua and Ruby Walter, Samantha Akin and Andrew Whiteman, Zachary and Madeline Akin, and Parker and Mikayla Akin; as well as Krissy and Dustin Layton, Kayla and Dustin Dodgin, Orrin and Kaci Dankworth, Mark and Kim Davison, Brooke Butler, JD and Mitchell Doty, and David and Clarissa Williams. Her family extends to her 28 great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews that are almost too numerous to count – much less list.

She will be remembered for her quick wit and easy smile, her enjoyment of classic country-and-western music, and her great love for her family.

Finally, the family would like to give special recognition to the doctors and nurses at Hendrick Hospital and Hendrick Inpatient Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Nancy during her final weeks with us.
