

Sue Gayle, 75, passed away on September 17, 2012 at a local nursing center. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Amy Wilson Feltz officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Sue was born on September 21, 1936, in Kilgore, Texas, to Alfred E. and Mildred Wykoff Walker. She completed her education and went on to achieve a bachelor’s degree at McMurry University. Sue married Clinton C. Gayle on June 1, 1958 in Crane, TX.
Sue was a retired teacher after teaching 1st grade at Crockett Elementary for 32 years. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was also a member of the Aldersgate UMW and the Aldersgate choir. She belonged to the Texas Retired Teachers Organization and was a representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Marcia.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Clinton Gayle of Abilene; a son, Nathan Samuel Gayle and fiancé, Crystal of Colleyville, TX; three sisters, Helen Harroll and Barbara Smith, both of San Antonio, and Mary Griffin of Crane, TX; and two brothers, Peter Walker of Dallas and William Walker of Midland.
