Norma Jean Rister

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5-7:00 pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy. 277 S., Abilene, Texas 79606. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at 10:00 AM at Tye Cemetery with Pastor C.V. Blake officiating and music by Jim Jones. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and near her Parents.

Norma was born on September 17, 1932 in Abilene, Texas to the late Horace Riley Cox and Willie Mae (Hardison) Cox. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1951. Norma grew up in Tye where she was a member of Tye Baptist Church. She married Jack Dean Rister her Tye neighbor from across the way April 30, 1952 in Moran. Jack and Norma relocated to Kerrville in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack D. Rister; her brothers, Chester B. Cox and Dorris “D.E.” Cox.

She is survived by her faithful friend, Helen Stockton of Kerrville and her brother-in-law, Gene Rister and his wife Janet “Katie” of Arizona; several nephews and a niece.

Norma’s dear friend Helen is to be commended by friends and family for her conscientious attendance, kind care and love shown to Norma.
