Norman Dale Buchalla

April 22, 1950June 10, 2018

On June 10th, 2018 Norman Dale Buchalla, 68, of Abilene, Texas gained his wings, making his final journey to be with God in Heaven. Norman passed peacefully in his sleep after a three year long battle with cancer. He is entering a new chapter, eternal life, to join his loving father, Richard Norman Buchalla along with his dearest friend and uncle, Ronnie Dale Jones. Through the cracks in the floor of Heaven we know Norman will be watching over us until one day we all meet again. Norman is survived by his three daughters, Nicole Buchalla of Abilene, Neisha Lamb (Buchalla) and son-in-law Jade both of Tuscola, and Caitlin Buchalla of Abilene, sister Sandra McKeever (Buchalla) of Abilene, mother Billie Buchalla (Jones) of Abilene, granddaughter Baylee (Nicole), grandson Lyric (Neisha) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members. Norman was born on April 22nd, 1950 to Richard and Billie Buchalla in Graham, Texas. The new family shortly moved to Abilene, Texas where they soon welcomed his younger sister, Sandra. Norman goes on to graduate in the class of 1968 as an Abilene High School Eagle where he made fond memories of friendships, school events, and most importantly sports. He played baseball throughout his childhood and was very proud of his time playing for the Abilene Eagles as their shortstop. Following graduation Norman did quite a bit of moving around the great state of Texas and different parts of the country, eventually settling down in his hometown of Abilene. Norman's love for the outdoors shined through in his various occupations. The longest spanning 20 years in which he took pride installing glass from simple home windows to works of art found in Abilene and surrounding cities (some of his favorites were stained glass pieces still found in numerous churches in Abilene). In his later years, Norman excelled as a car salesman for Arrow Ford. It seems like he was always winning a trip to Las Vegas or deep sea fishing on the coast for receiving top salesman. Norman enjoyed living his adventurous life but found comfort in simpler things such as being a loving father, caring brother, devoted son, proud grandfather, reliable friend and of course a skilled fisherman. His memory will live on in all the people he touched during his time on Earth. You finally got those wings, so go fly high. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, burial to follow at Tye Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. To leave online condolences visit

Derrell/Pat Love

June 12, 2018

With deepest condolences Derrell and I are heartbroken! I had gone to school with Norman from 7th grade through high school. Derrell and I double dated with Norman SEVERAL times always having a great time with a lot of laughter. I remember going to the lake and watching Norman ski barefoot with that big smile on his face. He was "Dip" to Derrell and Derrell was the same to Norman.
