Oweta G. Reising, 94 of Hurst formerly of Abilene passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022 in North Richland Hills.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Oweta was born on January 9, 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Lillard and Edith (Brown) Gamble. She grew up, graduated high school in Fort Smith, and went on to attend Fort Smith Junior College. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart John E. Reising on July 2, 1950. Oweta was a homemaker and was devoted to caring for her husband and two daughters. She eventually entered the work force as a bank teller in several cities. In 1973, the family relocated from Houston to Abilene where she later became the Assistant Manager of the former Hallmark Store in the Abilene Mall. Oweta and John were faithful members of Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene for many years. They moved to the DFW area in January of 2019 to be closer to family. She loved flowers and gardening, she could have easily been a master gardener. She will be remembered for her love of family, her sweet, yet feisty personality.
Oweta was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Stanley and Clyde Gamble; and her sister, Wyneva Ledford.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, CMSgt. John E. Reising, USAF (Ret.) of Hurst; her daughters, Deborah Gunter(Charlie) of Hurst; Renee Reising(Julie Torre); her grandsons, Jon Gunter(Robyn) and Paul Gunter(Molly); great-grandson, Finn Gunter; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
