Patricia Gibson Zara

Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Caps Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM also at the funeral home.

Patricia was born on May 5, 1958, in Baird, Texas. She was one of eleven children born to the late Calvin Dillard Gibson and Audie Mae (Ragen) Gibson. She grew up in a large family that remained close. There was always something fun and exciting going on at the Gibson home. She attended Abilene High School and later graduated from the American Commercial College in Lubbock. She married the love of her life Gene Zara in 1983. She managed BINGO halls to include, Redman Lodge in Tye and Downtown Bingo. She and her husband later worked together in the trucking industry. Her family attended North Park Baptist Church where she had been a member.

Family was important to Patricia. She loved her two children and was fiercely protective. She remained loyal to all her family. She would do anything for them. She also did not mind letting you know where she stood on things. She was honest and loved to have a good time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gene Zara; her siblings, Shirley Jean Case, Calvin Leonard Gibson, Donald Glenn Gibson, Billy Dean Gibson, Robert Don Gibson, Judy Ellen Gibson; nephews, Tommy Price and Ronnie Gibson and niece, Billie Jean Gibson.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Mason and husband Matthew, Charles Calvin Zara, Todd Zara and his wife Rhonda, Christy Oden and her husband Blaine, Sharla Morris and her husband Brian; grandchildren: Taylor, Makyla, Christian, Morgan, Melissa, Gabriel, Cameron, Ashley, Lindsey, Chloe and Kale; great-grandchildren: Ivy, Kaisley and Kaelyn; siblings: Larry Dale Gibson, Wilma Kay Ervin and her husband Robert, David Wayne Gibson and Ronald Lynn Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
