Pauline Grace Chittum

Pauline Grace Chittum, 99, passed away October 11, 2014. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, October 14th at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10am Wednesday, October 15th at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Midway Cemetery in Hodges, TX. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Chad Chittum, Richard Zavala, Dennis Chittum, Tommy Underwood, Johnny Chittum, Tye Chittum, James Chittum and Rick Jackson.

Pauline was born August 9, 1916 in Hodges, Texas to the late James Overton and Stella Marie (Woodard) Copeland. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Clyde for many years. She loved tending to her garden and canning fruits and vegetables. Pauline’s greatest joy was being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Stella Copeland; her husband, John F. Chittum; son, Bill Chittum; sons-in-law, John Underwood and James Jackson; and granddaughter, Melinda Perrault. Pauline is survived by her children, Stella Underwood of Midland, TX; Gracie Jackson of Houston, TX; John Chittum and wife Wanda of Baird, TX; Bob Chittum and wife Jayne of Baird, TX; Sandra J. Chittum of Ada, OK; Fred Chittum of San Antonio, TX; and Dennis Chittum and wife Ann of Burleson, TX; 30 Grandchildren, 69 Great Grandchildren and numerous Great Great Grandchildren.
