Pete "Spuds" Acosta

Pete "Spuds" Acosta, 67, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at a local medical center. Services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene.

Pete was born on January 18, 1944 in Lockhart, TX to Agapito Acosta and Anselma (Oliva) Garcia. He loved to go dancing all of the time and to play softball. He was employed by Caldwell Products as a buffer.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Janie Acosta of Abilene; two sons, Mario Acosta and Luis Acosta and wife, Annette all of Abilene; three daughters, Veronica Mendoza and husband Agapito of Dallas, Dianna Martinez and husband Joey of Abilene and Michelle Hernandez of Dallas; seven brothers, Patrick Garcia of San Marcos, Rudy Garcia of Haskell, Tony Garcia of Arlington, Authur Garcia of Corpus Christi, Oscar, Victor, and Martin Garcia all of Abilene; three sisters, Juanita Portillo of Abilene, Cecilia Lozano of Anson and Josie Salias of Arlington; twenty grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
