A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11 AM in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel, 5701 US Hwy 277 South in Abilene, with Chris Shupe, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Petra was born on November 24, 1946 in Shelby, Mississippi to Raymond Guajardo, Sr. and Rosalie (Favalora) Guajardo. Petra loved to love on family and to all who were in need. She always had an open door to her humble home. Petra was a dedicated mother to Elizabeth Bailey and Fred Mata. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Granny. Petra adored her “boo-boo”, Joshua W. Mata-Isbell of San Angelo, Texas and Braydon E. Thompson and Devon W. Thompson of Farr, Utah.
Petra had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh. She never held back what she wanted, had a knack for telling it like it is, and was highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. For many years, Petra's passion was working with individuals with developmental disabilities, which she did lovingly until she retired. It suited her compassionate, servant heart.
Petra was preceded in death by her father Raymond, mother Rosalie, three brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Bailey of Abilene, and Fred Mata and wife of Farr, Utah; siblings, Reyes Guajardo, Sr. of Anson, Raymond Guajardo, Jr. of Abilene, Rosalie Ocon of Abilene, Patricia Moore and husband of Abilene, Samuel Guajardo, Sr. of Abilene, James Guajardo and wife of Abilene, Eleanor Guajardo of Abilene, Ernest Guajardo, Sr. and wife of Abilene, Eddie Guajardo of San Antonio; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
