

Quincy Gene “Quinine” Reed, Sr., 70, of 409 Penrose passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be 12:00p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory with Fredrick Starks officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00p.m., directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Reed was born in Abilene, Texas on June 28, 1942. He and was a graduate of Cater G. Woodson High School and served in the U.S. Army. Quincy was a jack of all trades, the last job being with Marvin Construction. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Johnnie and Maggie Reed; brothers, Artie Lee and Johnnie Harold Reed Jr.; grandchildren, Torreono A. Reed and Malshard A. Williams; and niece, Georgia Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Reed of Abilene; sons, Dennis Reed of Killeen, TX, Quincy Reed Jr. of Farmington, NM; daughters, Denise Reed Garrett and Roslyn Reed; step-children, Menika Smith and Gene Clay of Abilene; brothers, Ernest Reed of Abilene and Ronnie Reed of Arlington, Cedric of Beeville, Illinois; sisters, Johnnie Phillips of Wichita Falls, TX, Ora Lynn of Abilene, Earma Griffin of San Antonio, Ann Owens of Titusville, Florida; and special friend, Laverne Smith; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be at 409 Penrose.
