

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The son of Bert Reid, Sr. and Alice Burrier Reid, Randolph was born on October 13, 1931 in Randolph Field, Texas. He served in the United States Army from August 1949 to September 1952, earning the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars. Randolph served in the United States Air Force from June 1952 until retiring as a Master Sergeant in December 1972. After retiring, he worked for the city of Abilene and performed maintenance at various apartment complexes.
His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
Randolph is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vada Mae Reid of Abilene; a daughter, Brenda Thomson and her husband, Mark, of Long Branch, Texas; a son, Ron and his wife, Sharon, of Mansfield, Texas; a daughter, Sandy Gann and her husband, Joe, of Abilene; and a son, Russ and his wife, Natalie, of Marlborough, New Hampshire; four grandsons, Brad Reid, Matt Reid, Chris Reid, and Cody Gann and his wife, Monique; two great-grandsons, Joshua Reid and Colin Gann; one great-granddaughter, Jordan Chamberlain; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the Abilene Regional Medical Center nursing staff and the Hendrick Hospice staff for their kindness and comfort shown during this trying time.
