Renee Kidd

Renee Kidd, 69, passed away peacefully Monday, July 20th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born on August 18, 1956, in Rotan, Fisher County, Texas, Renee lived a life defined by service to others, quiet strength, and a heart that always put family first.

While raising her own children, Renee opened her home to the children of numerous families through her in-home childcare. To many, she became a second mom, and the relationships she built with those children and their families lasted a lifetime. She later fulfilled her lifelong calling to care for others by earning an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Odessa College in 1994 and becoming a Registered Nurse, where her compassion and servant's heart continued to bless everyone she encountered.

For 51 years, Renee shared a beautiful marriage with the love of her life, Jackie Kidd. Together they built a family rooted in faith, laughter, resilience, and unconditional love. Whether traveling together on new adventures or simply enjoying time with those they loved most, the two shared a partnership that served as the foundation of their family.

Renee's greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Jackie; their children, Angie (Bridger), Mark (Catrina), and Aimee (Zack); her eight cherished grandchildren, Tucker (Lily), Jacob, Jaxon, Colten, Stockton, Jarett, Joslynn, and Saylor; her precious great-granddaughter, Calla Monroe; and her sister, Cyndy Kristinek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ima Browning-Berry and L.B. Berry, and her beloved sister, Sharon Berry Smith.

Renee embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved music, reading, attending concerts, and traveling with Jackie, creating memories wherever their adventures took them. More than anything, she found her greatest fulfillment in cheering on her children and celebrating each of their accomplishments. As her family grew, her favorite title became "Gram," and that same unwavering love extended to every grandchild, whose milestones and everyday moments brought her immeasurable joy. Renee loved deeply and wholeheartedly. Her family was the center of her world, and she was the kind of friend everyone hoped to have; loyal, compassionate, encouraging, and always there when she was needed.

Her kindness, generosity, and servant's heart will be remembered always. Though she will be profoundly missed, the love she poured into her family, the children she nurtured, the patients she cared for, and the memories she created with those she loved will continue to live on for generations.

A Memorial Service honoring Renee's life will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606, US, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Kidd family home to continue celebrating Renee's life and to spend time together in fellowship and remembrance.
