Robin Estelle (Garrett) McQuitty,70, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones and her loving “adopted” sisters, Brenda Anderson and Sarah Jones. She succumbed to her fight with cancer, only after putting up a 7+ year battle with this horrible disease.
Robin was born in Waco, Texas, on May 16, 1956, to Charlie Joe & Tressie Levon Garrett. She was raised in the Waco and Valley Mills area until about the age of 7, when her family moved to Dallas.
She moved to Midland, Texas, in the early 80s, and there she met her husband, Tom, in early 1984. They married on September 21, 1985. She gave birth to their only child, Jacob, on January 26, 1993.
She and her family moved back to Dallas in September of 1997, and remained there until moving to Wise County, TX in January 2008. They then moved to Abilene in July 2023.
Robin had a great, fierce, and unwavering love for her family, and was devoted to her husband and son. Robin loved her family with great passion, and even though she was only 5’ 2”, you’d think you were in a fight with a 10’ grizzly bear if you harmed any one of them.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Linda Erickson; and her brothers, Joe Stewart and Roy Stewart.
She is survived by her husband, Tom McQuitty; son, Jacob McQuitty; sister, Sandra Torres; and her very special adoptive family, Brenda & Roger Anderson, Sarah Jones, Robbie and Lalisa Chaney; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and so many others.
We love you, Robin, and will always carry your memory in our hearts forever & ever! Although your physical presence will be greatly missed, every time we see a yellow butterfly, or see and smell a yellow rose, we’ll know you are beside us.
A celebration of life for Robin will be scheduled at a later date.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.” - 2 Timothy 4:7
