Ruth Ann Simpson Pinkerton, 75, was called home by the Lord on January 21, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. She has been under the devoted care of nurses and staff at various nursing centers in Abilene, TX. She was also cared for by an amazing staff from Kindred Hospice in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene with Scott Goolsby officiating.
Ruth was born on November 17, 1945 in Marion, Michigan to Delbert C. and Nora Belle Simpson. She later moved to Abilene, TX with her family and attended Abilene High School where she graduated.
Ruth had a smile that lit up a room and a laugh you could hear from miles away. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was also known for her loving, caring personality and always willing to help anyone and everyone.
She loved playing bingo, a good slot machine and playing softball. She was a dedicated Dallas Cowboy fan and most of all admired Elvis Presley and his music.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Alice Miller; and brothers, Jerry Simpson and Tex Simpson.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Gilmore & wife, Betina of Abilene, TX; her daughter, Carol Ann Gilmore & Patricia Aguero of Abilene, TX; her grandchildren, Jennifer King & John Vasquez of Abilene, TX, Whitney Pike & Court Pike of Wichita, KS, Jason Williams & Amanda Williams of Abilene, TX, Ashley Williams of Abilene, TX, Justin Wright of Abilene, TX, Leann Wright of Abilene, TX, and Taylor Wright of Abilene, TX; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lakyn, River, Stone, Creed, Anthony, Xander, Styles, Kash, Nicholas, Jonathon, Anthony, and Alicia.
She is also survived by her brothers, Charles (Chuck) Simpson of Stamford, TX, Johnny Simpson & wife, Jana of Abilene, TX, Larry Simpson & wife, Shirley of DeLeon, TX, Phillip Simpson & wife, Faye of Kyle, TX and sister Brenda Riccio & husband, Tony of Austin, TX, numerous nieces and nephews and her life long best friend Pat Young Baack.
The family would like to say thank you to the Kindred Hospice Staff and a special thank you to Marianne, Julie, Laura and Cindy for their kind loving care. An extra special thank you to her Kindred aide Sarah for keeping her looking beautiful.
She was loved and will be missed by many.
