Shirley was born on January 7, 1936 to the late Rev. J. Bedford Chick and Nettie “LaVerne” (Sewalt) Chick in Snyder, Texas. She grew up with her two brothers moving around West Texas following her father’s ministry. She attended Kermit High School. She married Billy James Mosley on July 1, 1954. The family eventually settled in Abilene where Shirley faithfully was a devoted homemaker caring for all the needs of the family. She eventually went into the workforce for the AISD at Cooper High School where her delicious food was served in the cafeteria. Shirley was very active with Red Bud Seniors, her retired friends group, and her church. She loved animals especially her dog, Peanut. She was creative and an outstanding seamstress, cook and baker.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Upon making Abilene home initially she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. Later she joined Second Baptist Church where she remained. She loved her church family and enjoyed the fellowship and being involved any way she could. She will be remembered for her love, honesty and devotion to those she cared about.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Billy J. Mosley.
