Stephen Frank Owen

Stephen Frank Owen, lovingly known as “Papa” was born on June 24, 1955, at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene, Texas. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of deep faith, unwavering love, and a family held together by his steady presence.

A memorial service celebrating his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Beltway Park Church - South Campus 4009 Beltway South Abilene, TX 79606.

Stephen was a proud graduate of Cooper High School and later an undergrad at Texas Tech University. He went on to pharmacy school at the University of Texas, where he met his bride, Connye. Their meeting began a love story that would span 45 years and build a life centered on faith and family.

Stephen was the proud owner of Owen Pharmacy & Owen Total Medical Care and was grateful for the opportunity to work alongside his children in the family business. He took great pride in what they built together and in the values of service & integrity that defined their work.

Above all, Stephen was a family man. One of his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was being a grandfather to Jake, Harrison, and Creed. He cherished time spent with them and found deep purpose in guiding them through life whether it was fly fishing or grilling at the lake.

Stephen was proud of his Scottish and Welsh heritage and loved to travel, especially when it meant time with family. Some of his most treasured moments were spent at the family lake house in Kingdom Possum where he loved to share stories.

A man of strong faith, Stephen was actively involved in his church, Beltway, and his life group. He was known as the glue that held his family together the one who fixed what was broken, offered quiet wisdom, and showed up without being asked.

Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Connye; his children Ashley Owen-Phillips (Jason) and Austin Owen (Lexis); his grandchildren Jake, Harrison, and Creed; his brother Bubba Owen and sister-in-law Loretta and their three children; Jennifer, Jeff, & Julie and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston Owen and Rheba Owen, and by Randall and Carol Lea.

Stephen’s sweet life was cut far too short, but his faith, love, and legacy will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
