Sylvia was born on December 22, 1944 in San Antonio to the late Manuel and Sebastiana (Torres) Garza.
Sylvia grew up in San Antonio, where she met and married her late husband, Jesus Luera. She was a faithful Air Force wife accompanying her husband to his different assignments. She was a devoted mother she kept busy taking are of the needs of her four children. The family moved to Abilene in the late 70’s where her husband retired, and to stay and made Abilene home. She will be remembered as a, strong-willed, organized, and loving wife, and mother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking delicious meal, and collecting cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jesse Luera, and daughter, Margaret Luera; and several siblings.
She is survived by her to children, Cynthia Fraley, and Jerry Luera; granddaughter, Andrea Fraley; and her great-grandson, Theodore Jesse Lucas; several siblings; and a close family friend Aurelia Alvarado.
The family will gather privately at a later date to remember her.
