A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Potosi Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family receive friends and family for a visitstion on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Abilene, Texas on November 22, 1950 to Howard Torrey Gleason and Wanda Hope Scott, Terry graduated from Wylie High School in 1969, where he played football as an All-District linebacker and basketball, and then attended what was then Cisco Junior College in Cisco. Following a long-standing family tradition, Terry went on to work for United States Post Office for over thirty years.
A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Terry traveled the country and visited every state in the contiguous United States. He was such an avid reader that, as child in school, if the school librarian was asked about a book, they’d say, “Go ask Terry. He’s read all of them.” An expert marksman and outdoorsman, it was widely known that he caried the sharpest pocketknife in the southern United States, and that anyone who drove down his country lane driveway might be treated to the sight of Terry gardening in nothing but his white Fruit of the Loom briefs and black postal uniform socks and shoes.
Terry treasured the love of his life, Bobalea, his three sons, his beloved nieces and nephews, and his first grandchild, Porter Lee. Porter was joined by a sister, Charlie Grace, on August 21, 2020, and though Terry never had the opportunity to meet her, we know he would have spoiled her shamelessly.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, dearest stepmother, Cherry, and twin sisters, Betty Sue and Ava Lou. Survivors include his wife, Bobalea, his sons Zachary (Alex) of Midland, Chance of Abilene, and Coby (Holly) of Austin, grandchildren Porter Lee and Charlie Grace, daughter Ainslee Driskill of Ft. Worth, brother H.T. (Marsha) of Eula, brother Robert (Carolyn) of Tuscola, two nephews, four nieces, numerous cousins, and countless friends.
Pallbearers are Zachary Gleason, Chance Gleason, Matthew Gleason, H.T. Gleason, Robert Gleason, and Spence Southall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047).
