Tommy Lee Sewell

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Calvin Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Tommy was born December 14, 1943 to Wanda Estelle (Sims) and Calvin J. Sewell in Big Spring, Texas. He attended school in Hamlin, Texas, graduating in 1962. Tommy served his country in the United States Army. He married Carol McDonald on August 19, 1964 in Stamford, Texas. Tommy retired from Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas after being employed for 29 1/2 years as a construction manager. In 1993, they moved to Abilene, Texas. Tommy loved cars. He was trustworthy, dependable, and generous.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Sewell of Abilene; a son, Calvin Sewell of Midland, Texas; a daughter, Shelly Barnes of Midland, Texas; his step-mother, Bertie Ruth Sewell of Hamlin, Texas; a step-sister, Sue Willis of Abilene; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Maranda, Joshua, Matthew, and Courtney Barnes, all of Midland; and a great-grandchild, Sara Link.
