Travis Roy Cain, beloved son, brother, friend, departed this earthly life on July 5, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. His warm, generous spirit will live on in the memories of those that loved him so dearly.
Travis was born on March 6, 1997, in Bedford, Texas, to Douglas Roy Cain and Elizabeth Patricia (Leonard) Cain and was welcomed into the world by his sister Anna Faith Cain. In 1998 the family moved to Midland, Texas, where Travis spent his youth and made many close friends. He had a happy childhood and graduated from Trinity School of Midland, then attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Travis spent a year at the University of Texas, San Antonio before moving on to study pharmacy at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Abilene, Texas, where he earned his doctorate in pharmacy in December 2023.
His faith played an important part in Travis’s life. While in Abilene, he was an active member of Beltway Park Church, and found great joy and inspiration in his relationships with fellow believers. He engaged in several different ministries throughout his life: missions trips overseas and outreach programs in the different communities where he lived. His compassion for others was always strong, and he selflessly gave his time and resources.
Travis moved to Tucson, Arizona early in 2024 to be close to his mother while he battled a serious mental illness. Although his life ended tragically early, his family would like him to be remembered for the joy, energy, and goodness that were the core of who he was.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sandra Jean Leonard; his paternal grandparents, Harold Roy Cain and Barbara Ann Cain; his aunt Faith Eileen Leonard; and his beloved cousin Timothy Robert Leonard.
Travis is survived by his devoted parents, Douglas Roy Cain and Elizabeth Patricia (Leonard) Cain; his sister Anna Faith Cain; his grandfather Ernest J Leonard; his step-mother Martha Jane Cain and step brothers Jackson and Jace Cahill; his uncles Ernest Leonard and wife Terrie, Josh Leonard and wife Kari; his aunts Susan Holland, Beverly Walls and husband Glenn; numerous cousins and many, many friends.
Funeral services celebrating Travis's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., July 16, 2025, in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Highway 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606. A graveside service will be held in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories following the service. Mark Jackson of Beltway Park Church will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
