

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 US Highway 277 S. In Abilene. Interment will follow in Potosi Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 PM also at the funeral home.
Wayne was born on February 9, 1940, in Telephone, Texas. He was the eighth of nine children born to the late James Luther Dearing and Sallie(Rainey) Dearing. At a young age the family relocated to Taylor County where he was raised in the then small Wylie Community where he attended local schools. His early employment was with the Metro Theatre that was located on Butternut where he was a jack of all trades. He married Floydean "Sissy" Camp on November 21, 1963. He retired as a night Forman from Martin Sprocket and Gear in Clyde after 29 years. He was a dependable and hard worker. He had a natural understanding of anything mechanical. He was a natural musician as well. He was a member of the Big Country Autoharp and Dulcimer Club. He enjoyed woodworking and watching westerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Floydean Dearing; infant son, Lloyd Dearing; siblings, Rosa Jones, Purvey "Bud" Dearing, Z. Bernice Tinsley, Paul Dearing, Howard Dearing and Nelda "Sam" Pennington; son-in-law, John Wilcox
He is survived by his son, Floyd James Dearing and his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Kellie Wilcox; grandchildren, Paul and Casey Wilcox; sisters, Virginia Howard and Rita Henry; numerous nieces and nephews.
