William Lawrence Stotts was born on December 4, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Gaylord Clayton Stotts and Lillian Belle (Mack) Stotts. After graduating from High School, he joined the United States Air Force. While Stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, NM he met Emma Jean Harrington whom he married. After a rewarding career, he retired after many years of honorable service. He settled in Abilene where he later married Debra Lou Pennington who he shared 46 years with. Bill was the example of a handworker, even working up to the time he passed. After his military career, he worked and retired from the City of Abilene’s Sanitation Department. He currently was employed as a security guard for the Abilene Lumber Company. He believed in keeping active and not sitting idle. He will be remembered as a great provider, handworker, strong in his convictions and a man of God. Though seasons of Bill’s life presented many challenges, his family was blessed to watch his life over the years change and take on new meaning and direction. He will be missed. He was a member of the former Southwest Church of The Nazarene in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents; all his siblings; his wives, Emma Jean Harrington; and Debra Lou Stotts; son, Robert “Bob” Stotts; and grandson, Robert Stotts.
He is survived by his three children, William “Billy” Stotts, Barbara Osborne and her husband, Dennis, and Ryan Stotts; 2 stepdaughters, Carla Woodyard, and Carolyn Stampley and her husband, Wes; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
