Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in the Elliott Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 US Hwy 277 S, Abilene, TX 79606. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott Hamil Funeral Home.
Zexia was born on January 19, 1931 in Sudan, Texas to Ernest Willie and Jessie Mae (Ramsey) Parmer. She married Walter Dillingham on August 12, 1952. She later married Henry Grady Wellmaker on August 1, 1992 in Sudan. She had lived in Abilene since 1989, was a singer and a seamstress, and owned a quilt shop “Gone to Pieces” in Abilene for quite some time. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Zexia was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Walter Dillingham and Henry Grady Wellmaker, five sisters Flora Gunn, Christy Parmer, Mary Lena Maxwell, Yvette Gage and Jessie Vernell Parmer, and brother Sardis Parmer.
Survivors include daughter Lucretia Gayle; son William Dillingham; two grandchildren Charles Berry, Jr. and Renee McLain; and several extended family and friends.
