John passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Veteran’s Wing, Toronto on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 following a lengthy illness. He was in his 92nd year.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Elliott.
He will be sadly missed by his great-nephew, Trevor Murray and his very good friends: Joanne Bottom of Irvine (California) and Gayle and Richard Gwilt (Acton).
John served in the Navy during WW II, following his discharge he joined the Naval Reserve and rose to the highest rank of Commodore.
After leaving the Navy, he went on to pass the bar and receive his law degree.
John was the Aide-de-Camp for Governor General Roland Michener and Governor General George P. Vanier.
Cremation has taken place.
