Just learned of Roberto's ascension today, very sorry to hear. My deep condolences.

He and I worked closely together on a long project. For literally months, at each other's desks, we toiled away. We definitely had comedic fun together though. When he needed me to help him with something, I had him bribe me with Brazilian Chocolates and other candy, and we made sure everyone knew, just to amuse ourselves.

He both looked and sounded like the spokesman for Dos Equis beer, and I would modify their infamous ad campaign for his sake with things like "He can fix SalesLogix software just by winking at you. His hair is used to tow cruise ships. He is the Most Interesting Developer In The World". I would come up with new ones all the time and say them loudly in his department for all to hear. We had fun.

Just recently, Dos Equis retired their "Most Interesting Man In The World" campaign by sending the "mascot" into space for a long adventure. How fitting. Roberto is now on his ascension into the Afterlife, on a new adventure.

Roberto, stay thirsty my friend. I miss the Brazilian Chocolate bribes.

I met Roberto about 12 years ago when he supported Carnival's Revenue Accounting Refunds team for annual tax reporting.  He was so helpful and encouraging, one of the warmest and jolliest persons I had ever met, never without a smile.  Beyond the work, he would always share stories about his travels and his family and I always enjoyed listening to them. He will be missed.

I was very saddened to hear about Roberto's passing.  I worked with him at Carnival.  He was a good man and I enjoyed his company.  I will miss him.  :-(

We from Carnival Cruise Lines were deeply saddened when we heard the news about the passing of our dear friend and co-worker Roberto. It was definitely a blessing to know and work with Roberto because I learned a lot from him not only about work but about life and family. I still remember very clearly the last time I had lunch with him and Edwin G. We had fun and talked a lot especially his plans of driving to Canada with his wife to spend time with his family and the grand children. I saw a happy, excited and lively Roberto. We even planned of having another lunch when he return from Canada.

Thank you Roberto for everything and we will definitely miss you – your jokes, smile, wit, advice and wisdom.

Losing a friend after 40 years of brotherly friendship is very hard.  No words can express our feelings.  We know Roberto is looking down, pointing his holy finger at us and saying: - Got you guys.   Yes, Roberto, you did get us and left us speechless but we have our memories and all of them are happy ones.  Rest in peace.

Roberto worked with me at Carnival beginning in the late 90's. He always had an offbeat, humorous personality that endeared him to everyone. He was a lot of fun to work with and be around. I can still see him wearing a big grin with a mischievous glint in his eye! 

He was also known for his nearly magical technical abilities. Many times users would complain that their document imaging system wouldn't work, so he would go pay them a visit. He'd listen to their problem and then reach over and touch the monitor with one finger and have them try it again. Most of the time it worked!  It happened so often that everyone referred to it as his "holy finger".

We all shared a lot of great times with Roberto. My sincere condolences to his friends and family.

I was very sad and sorry to hear about the passing our one of our friends at Carnival.  Roberto sat on the other side of my cubicle here in the office and I always remember hearing him helping others and looking forward to his retirement.  My deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family to help you get thru this difficult time.  May he forever stay in your hearts and remember all the wonderful moments you shared together.

What a great pleasure it was to have known Roberto and have worked with him so many years. He will be missed.


Please accept our condolences for the passing of our dear friend Roberto.  We were very fortunate to have him as part of our IT Carnival Team.  He was always very friendly and enthusiastic about his work.  He will always remain in our hearts and memories.

Roberto a wonderful person I met and worked with at Carnival since 2003. His stories and sense of humor was unique. He was a great professional to work with and a wonderful friend at work.

Roberto was a unique man that cherish life, family, friends and his work. He always would tell everyone the story that he got first job the same day as he got married and how this life has been defined by both family and work. I'm so glad to have met Roberto in this life and I certainly know we will meet again. My heartfelt condolences to his family and may he rest in peace!

I was very sorry to hear about Roberto's sudden passing — like many of the people here, I remember Roberto as a fun loving person, and Roberto and Marilda as inseparable. I can only imagine how difficult a time this must be.  Our thoughts are you with you, Marilda, Marcos, and Marcio, and with your families.

Roberto was a unique professional.    I met him at Carnival back in 1995, his ability to master Legacy and new technology was unparalleled.  It was a pleasure working with him because he was honest in his communication, funny in his delivery, and incredibly smart.  Roberto is still with us at Carnival because his creations are very much alive and popular.  We will miss him dearly.

Roberto and Marilda were our neighbours when we arrived in Canada and then we became good friends.  
Roberto loved to cook wonderful barbecues mostly seasoned with salt... and we enjoyed together many picnics and excursions throughout Ontario.  I remember in particular one camping experience where Roberto saw a bear walking through our camp site. 
We are certainly going to miss the wonderful times we had sharing laughter and crazy plans, some of which will now never become reality because our friend is no longer with us.
Marilda please count on us through these difficult times.  

Prezada Marilda, Apesar de nao estarmos em contacto por varios anos, sempre me lembro de ti e do Roberto com muito carinho.  No dia da chegada do Luis e da Carol e familia Roberto esteve comnosco no meu apto, e foi uma simpatia imediata, pois ele trouxe tanta alegria e boas vindas aos recem chegados.  So posso te dizer em inglez "He was a person one always looked forward to seeing!" - Que maior elogia para uma vida. Com muito carinho te abraca a Nona.

We will always remember Roberto as a lively fun loving person. Our thoughts are with Marilda and her family.

We are so sorry to hear the sudden passing of Roberto. I have very fond memories of the entire family (Robert, Marilda, Marcio e Marcos) who became good friends quickly and helped us settle into Canada many years ago. Roberto was a great friend. We met for the first time on June 23 (or 24), 1993. He and Marilda welcomed us in Mississauga when we first arrived in Canada. For many years we shared wonderful moments in barbecues, camping ("I saw a bear around the tents", he once said when we were in Algonquin park, or "what a beautiful 'picanha', but wait .. it's sweet !!! Well, Marilda covered it with sugar instead of salt ...), dinners, lunchs, “jin-san”, our philosophical talks … I regret we hadn’t met in the last 10-or so years, but the good times will never leave my mind.
It is very sad to be writing here. My condolences to Marilda, Marcio, Marcos, and families.
