Bobby Ross Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully in Chandler, Arizona, on May 30, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by the love and presence of his entire family. Born in Ajo, Arizona, on April 14, 1947, Bobby lived a rich, full life defined by service, hard work, and an enduring love for his family and community. Following his high school years, he honorably served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. During his time in the Navy, he bravely served two tours in Vietnam—a period of service that profoundly shaped his character and instilled a lifelong sense of duty and patriotism. Upon returning home, Bobby married the love of his life, Norma Moreno, on September 13, 1969, in Ajo, Arizona. Together, they built a beautiful life, shared countless adventures, and celebrated nearly 57 years of marriage rooted in deep love and partnership.
Bobby dedicated his professional career to his community, working for the Salt River Project (SRP) for 30 years as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic. Known for his technical expertise, strong work ethic, and camaraderie, he retired in 2009. After retiring, Bobby returned to his roots in Ajo, where he continued his passion for helping others by serving as the local tow truck driver for Kords Automotive. His kindness and readiness to lend a hand made him a familiar, reassuring face on the road to many in the community. His commitment to service also extended well into his personal life, where he was a dedicated lifetime member of the White Mountain Sheriff’s Posse Search and Rescue, giving his time and energy to look out for his neighbors.
An avid outdoorsman, Bobby truly loved the rugged beauty of Arizona. He found great joy in working with horses, hunting, and camping under the stars. Above all, his favorite moments were those spent sharing stories around a campfire or relaxing at home, surrounded by the family and lifelong friends he cherished so deeply. Bobby was the ultimate family man, anchoring his household with wisdom, gentle humor, and unwavering support. Having his family by his side as he passed was a true testament to the tight-knit, loving bond he spent his lifetime building.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Norma Moreno Ross; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindee Ross-Beecroft and her husband Dicky, Rae Ross-Sammon and her husband Bobby, and Bobbie Jo Ross-Padilla and her husband Steve; his five grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Chad Coyle, Codi Ross and Tyler McClintock, Robert and Leticia Beecroft, Shelbee Beecroft, and Wyatt Ross, who cherished their grandfather's stories and encouragement; and his four great-grandchildren, Brody, Sadie, Rylee, and Lexxi, who were blessed to know his presence and love.
