He was born February 27, 1939, in LaGrange, Georgia, to parents Bradley and Irene (Turner) Strong. Al had been a resident of Akron most of his life. He graduated from Akron South High School, where he excelled in football. Al retired from the City of Akron Sanitation Department after 30 years of service. He also worked for Summa Health Systems.
Preceded in death by his parents Bradley L. and Irene Strong, brother Thomas Strong, sister Darlene Gervins, son-in-law Deon Brooks, and special cousin, Harry L. "Pete" Strong, Sr..
Alfred leaves to cherish his memory beloved wife Jacqueline of 52 years, son Alfred L. Strong II, daughters Sonia Strong (Larry), Rosita L. Lewis, Tara Strong Brooks; brother: James Johnson; sisters: Mazie Germain and Angela Alexander, 12 grandchildren: Michael Jones, Savar Strong, William Lewis, Dalvin Strong, Jervaunn Gaskins, Justin Lewis, DeJon Brooks, Ryan Allison, DeMarco Brooks, Nina Strong, Brittany Lewis, and Gilbert Johnson, 18 great-grandchildren, Aunts, Mary Strickland, Elizabeth Strong and Alma Strong, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Al enjoyed life. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cavs and Browns. Mr. Strong enjoyed listening to Blues and Gospel music and riding his navy blue Goldwing.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Clifton Norwood following at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St., Akron, OH 44333. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Afterwards, there will be a repast meal held at the Lawton Community Center.

Alfred Lewis Strong, Sr., age 79 went Home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2018, at Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Center after a short illness.
