Born to Joseph and Victoria(Arena) Vivino on October 10, 1931 in Sant’Andrea, Calabria, Italy, he came as a child to the USA where the family settled in Ohio.
One of four siblings, he grew up Italian while embracing the challenges as a new American. Early on he was a railroad worker, and had many memorable stories to tell about that. He was a proud U.S. Army corporal and veteran of the Korean War. He continued to serve others as an educator after earning his Master’s degree from Ashland college. It was early in his teaching career that he met his future wife, June. Tony and June were married on June 29, 1957, and soon became Mom and Dad to two wonderful sons. Tony’s teaching career is highlighted by his Industrial Arts role at Hudson’s Youth Development Center, where he taught Wood shop and Metal Shop. He also coached little league baseball, played organized basketball, and loved playing in Akron’s Silver League Softball league. Tony’s life was full of family, tradition, and a never-ending passion for sports, travel, and teaching his opinions.
He is survived by his wife June(nee Sharak), sons David(Jean) and Stephen(Valarie), grandchildren Stephan, Joseph, Gina, Nicholas, and Noah, siblings Angelo(Anne), Clotilde(Cathy), and Celia(Don) Patt, and nephews Phillip and Gregory.
He will be missed by all of us.
