Ceci was born and raised in Kent, Ohio, and graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1970. As an accomplished dancer, Ceci was a ballroom dance instructor with Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Fairlawn during the late 1970s. She was an excellent dance teacher and partnered with her students in various dance competitions. She retired from Akron Children’s Hospital in June of 2021 after more than 40 years of service. Starting in the pharmacy department, then moving to the Burn Center, she retired as a certified Trauma Registrar. Some of her most memorable years at Children’s were spent as a coordinator in the Burn Center where in addition to her coordinator duties she was part of the “Stop, Drop and Roll” puppet show team that traveled to local schools teaching fire safety. She understood the importance of fun, a lesson she would pass on to her son and encourage throughout his life. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her infectious smile that seemingly nothing could tarnish even till the very end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Dolores Lane; husband, William “Bill” Lauer; brothers, Stephen Lane and Kenneth Lane.
Ceci is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Lauer of Akron; step-son, Benjamin (Holly) Lauer of Novelty; sister, Valerie (Barry) Wawrin of Wadsworth; and brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Lauer of Akron. Ceci is also survived by Derrik Lutz who she loved as family, her excitable dog, Luna, as well as aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time dear friend, Deb Henderson.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff in the ICU at Cleveland Clinic Hospital Main Campus and her home healthcare aide, Polly, for their compassionate care for Ceci.
A private, immediate family-only service will be held on Friday the 21st at 1:00 p.m. (EST). It will also be live-streamed on zoom the information of which will be shared on the Facebook page of her son Bobby Lauer.
The family asks that any donations which might be sent go to Akron Children’s Hospital, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308-1062.
