Dolores K. Culver (Dee) of New Franklin, died peacefully November 21 at Summa Hospital with her daughter by her side.
Born in Akron on April 26, 1934, Dee was the 4th of 5 children of Joseph and Mary Semester She attended Margaret Park School and South High School. She graduated from The University of Akron in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and was a member of Theta Upsilon Sorority.
She was an exceptional teacher in the Akron Public Schools beginning her career at Voris Elementary. She substituted at many Akron schools and at more permanently assigned schools teaching 4th, 5th and 6th grade including Rankin, Reimer, and Lincoln. She finished her teaching career at Lawndale Elementary when she retired in 1991.
Dolores married her devoted husband, David A. Culver on August 2, 1958 at High Street Christian Church.
Dolores is preceded in death by brother, Joseph D. Semester, sisters Charlotte Shuber and Mary Ann Culver.
Dolores is survived by husband, David, of 63 years; daughter Lisa (Greg) Holl; brother James (Barbara) Semester; sisters-in-law Shirley Culver, Nancy Semester; grandchildren Melinda Seaman and Bradley (Lena) Holl; great-grandchildren, Gregory and Hanna; many beloved nieces and nephews; and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, November 29 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market Street, Akron, 44333. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm.
