Dottie was deeply involved in her community, a PTA Mom, and was a proud member of Leadership Akron, received recognition many times from Keep Akron Beautiful, and the Corvette Club. She had a passion for traveling and was always seeking new thrills as shown by her African Safari trip and zip lining Victoria Falls at age 79. She enjoyed being a snow bird in Sarasota, Florida and swing dancing. She was known for her favorite color red and "Dotz Toy," her signature red Corvette.
She loved her children and shared her zest for life by encouraging them to broaden their horizons and providing them with tools for success. Dottie always spoke of how proud she was of Leesa and her boys saying each one was her “favorite”. Dottie's spunky nature and heart of gold will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Anthony "Tony" Cortel, her second husband, Tom Fairchild, and her daughter, Leesa Cortel.
Dottie is survived by her sons, Paul Cortel (Staci), Dan Cortel (Deborah), and Joe Cortel. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Corey, Kyle, Kasey, Corbin, Cameron, and Cole. Additionally, Dottie leaves behind her beloved feline companion, "Kitty."
A memorial gathering will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, located at 3653 W Market St, Akron, Ohio, 44333. The gathering will take place on December 3, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
