

Former Jefferson resident, Dorothy Currier, 101, passed from this world to the next on February 27. She had been residing at the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina. Her family was blessed to have had her in their lives for so many years.
Dorothy was born September 4, 1921, in North Fairfield, Ohio, to Ralph and Myrta (Woodworth) Kime. She grew up on a farm and two of her teachers encouraged her to go on to college in music. She attended Kent State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in music education in 1942. While at Kent State she was a member of the Kent State Marching Band. Music was a major part of her life and she taught instrumental and vocal music for 36 years both in Ohio and Florida. Most of those years were in the Jefferson Area School District.
Dorothy was a member of the Cape Coral Community Band, Naples (Florida) Band, and Ashtabula County Band as well as many others. She played almost every instrument known, but her favorite was the tenor saxophone.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church for many years and was active in the music ministry.
Dorothy was preceded in death by Cliff, her loving husband of 75 years, her parents and two sisters, Arlene Whetstone and Madge Lehnert.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Butler (Rich) of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Mary Miller (Brian) of Bedford, Wyoming, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great- great grandson, and many wonderful nieces and nephews,
A celebration of life service will be held at the Jefferson United Methodist Church at a later date.
