Emery was a school teacher for over 50 years, she started teaching in a convent, she later retired from Akron Public Schools.
She is survived by her husband, Everett "James" Hackney, her son, Mark Hackney.
A Calling Hour will be held at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn, Ohio 44333, on August 21, 2026, from 10:15 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hilary Catholic Church at 11:00 am.
Final resting will be at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, 3653 W Market St, Akron.
