Fredric “Fritz” Kohmann died peacefully at Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center after a two-year battle with cancer on January 11, 2024. He fought courageously and persistently until the very end. He was born on February 22, 1972 to Sharon and Lester Kohmann. Fritz has always excelled at academics and sports and graduated Valedictorian of his high school class and Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University. He went on to work for Arthur Andersen until 2002 when he moved to Shearer’s Foods and progressed from Manager of FP&A to CFO and then to Board member. The friendships and experiences he garnered through those companies are treasured. In 1999, Fritz married his long-time sweetheart, Beth Strandberg (Kohmann). They went on to have two amazing boys, Max and Joey, who are both studying at their parents’ alma mater. He is survived by his wife and boys (and his chocolate lab, Louie) and treasured family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved mom, Sharon (Sheree), and his grandparents.
We remember him as a devoted husband and father to Beth and the boys and to his faith. He was passionate about his career and to fostering lifelong friendships and building “his cherished finance team” at Shearer’s. He loved hiking, biking, travel, listening to “Truth for Life”, F1 and Ohio State football. He had an abundance of trips that followed his passions and he has passed those loves on to his boys. For those who knew him, he was wicked smart, kind, and had a quick wit. He was true to his spirit and unapologetically himself. We seek solace in the fact that his family had a lifetime of remarkable memories, although in a smaller package than ever imagined. Fritz made an indelible mark on Beth and the boys and they know that they will never walk alone, but will always have him at their side.
His family wants to give special thanks to all his doctors at the Cleveland Clinic who fought with him throughout these last two years and ardently worked to give him more time. They also want to thank Cleveland Clinic Home Health and Hospice employees who gave so much of themselves for Fritz and to lovingly assist his family. From Beth and the boys, the outpouring of love and support from friends and family is appreciated and their gratitude cannot be measured.
There will be a service at Blue Heron in Medina, OH (3227 Blue Heron Trace, Medina, 44256) starting at 11am on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. In lieu of calling hours, they will be having a “Celebration of Life” from 12-3 immediately following at the same location. They would ask that any tributes be made to OHUDDLE Mentors (ohuddle.org) or Parkside Church (Parksidechurch.com).
