George was born to George E Conroy Sr. and Clara Conroy (nee Stace) on January 15, 1928, in Pomeroy, Ohio.
George was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army and was a lifelong member of his local VFW. He was married to his wife Dorothy for 69 years before her passing in 2022. He was employed at JM Cleminshaw Company in various states and Nova Scotia, Canada before starting his own family appraisal business, Conroy Appraisal Service.
Kim fondly remembers going to the Hot Dog Shoppe in Warren Ohio with her father, ordering coney dogs, fries, and milkshakes. George enjoyed going to Jullians for breakfast with friends. George had a fondness for sweets, his favorite being chocolate covered cream sticks. He loved to dance and visiting his favorite restaurants.
George will be remembered for being low-key and would always tell Kim "Everything will be okay," and "Right foot; Left foot."
George was preceded in death by his parents George E Conroy Sr. and Clara Conroy (nee Stace), his wife Dorothy Conroy, his sister Rose Marie Hutchison (Robert), his brother Hugh Conroy, his brothers-in-law Tony Gingo and Roy Long, and his son-in-law Charles E Stump. He was preceded also by his grand-dogs Annie, Meghan, Muffin 1, and Muffin 2.
George is survived by his daughter Kimberly Stump, as well as his sisters-in-law Glenna Gingo and Julie Long. George also leaves behind his beloved grand-dog: Maggie Mae.
The family wishes to extend special gratitude to Jeff Porter, nurse with Wellspring Hospice, and T, nurse aide with Heather Knoll.
A memorial service commemorating George will be determined at a later time. In lieu of flowers, Kimberly has asked that contributions are made in the manner of donations to St. Paul Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice. George’s final resting place is St. Paul's Episcopal Church & Memorial Garden, 1361 W Market St, Akron.
