Gerald peacefully departed this world on June 14, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by the love and warmth of his cherished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the comfort of his home.
Born on November 15, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, Gerald was the beloved son of Michael and Josephine. He was the younger brother to his late sibling, John and older brother to sister, Irene. From an early age, Gerald’s imagination and creativity were evident, leading him to pursue a career in architecture—a passion he nurtured throughout his entire life.
Gerald’s journey in education led him to Kent State University, where he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. For over five decades, he contributed his talents to his local community, designing structures that not only stood the test of time but also served as a testament to his dedication and skill. His work was more than just a career; it was his way of leaving a lasting impact on the world.
Around the tender age of 12, Gerald met the love of his life, Mary Ann. Their love story, spanning an incredible 70 years of marriage, was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a family that became the center of their universe. Although Mary Ann departed this world before him, her memory lived on in the stories and love that Gerald shared with his family.
Gerald was a devoted father to his children, Jerry, Mary Ann (Gary), David (Michelle), Jennifer (Tony) and Laura (Al). He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 14 great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy and accomplishment, and his home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of his favorite Sunday gatherings.
An avid traveler, Gerald had an insatiable curiosity about the world. His adventures took him to far-off lands, and he delighted in bringing back small tokens from his journeys to share with his family, each one carrying a story. A man of simple pleasures, Gerald found joy in the little things—drawing and doodling on napkins, watching sports, and indulging in his favorite wing-dings.
Gerald's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and legacy. He was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Michael, his brother John, and his beloved wife, Mary Ann. Yet his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, his family, and the countless friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
As we celebrate Gerald’s life, we remember him not just as an architect of buildings but as an architect of love and memories. His legacy is one of warmth, creativity, and an unyielding dedication to his family and community. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever guide us, reminding us to cherish each moment and to love deeply.
Rest in peace, dear Gerald. Your life was a masterpiece, and your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S Cleveland Massillon Rd, Copley, Ohio 44321, on June 29, 2026, at 11:00 am.
