

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Isabelle Heckman and grandson, Daniel Heckman. He is survived by sister, Marilee Heckman; former wife, Sonya Heckman; daughters, Laura Heckman, Barbara (James) Barber; sons, Harvey, Jr. (Cindy), Jeffrey (Vicky); grandchildren, Kimberly, Erica, Alexandria, Nicholas and Clifford Heckman, Heather (Jordan) McAlister, Mandy Heckman, Jimmy and Kaitlin Barber; great grandchildren, Jayden McAlister and Isabella Heckman.
Harvey lived most of his life in Vienna, Va. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, N.J. and became a Cadet in the Army Air Corps. He "got his wings" and became a pilot flying the famous B-17 based in London, England. Harvey proudly served his country during World War II, flying thirty missions over Germany. After his service tour, he served 35 years as a pilot for United Airlines.
His leisure time was spent on the golf course with friends or fishing and camping with his son Jeffery on the Outer Banks of North and South Carolina. Harvey was a member of the Polish League of American Veterans Post #32 and Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Vienna, Va.
The family will receive friends for a memorial service 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, at the Catavolos Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Harvey loved the many cats and dogs he had as pets throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harvey's name to One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
