Jim was born in Akron, Ohio to Lucille Stafford (née Everett) and Leland Stafford. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High class of 1962. He then went on and graduated from The University of Akron with a degree in business management. It was during this time, that he met his wife, Jeanne while working at Morse Control in Hudson. Jim was also enrolled in the Ohio National Guard.
Jim held various management jobs over the years at several companies and his last stop was as parking director at the University of Akron, and held that job proudly for 18 years until his retirement in 2011.
Jim was known for his vast music collection, particularly enjoying doo-wop and Motown from the 50s and 60s. He loved to watch Western films and tv shows, the Three Stooges, and WWE wrestling. When he wasn't inside of the home, James was out landscaping, woodworking, and furniture finishing. He enjoyed spaghetti dinners as well as milkshakes and ice cream, having been caught sneaking down late at night for a frozen treat after his kids went to bed. He had a zest for life, a witty and sarcastic sense of humor. Above all, he loved his family and friends with no limit.
Jim is survived by his daughter Lisa Stafford; and his son David Stafford (Jennifer); his granddaughter Chloe (Gio), his granddaughter Madison, his grandson Christian, and his great grandson Luca. Jim also leaves many brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Stafford (née Roman). He was also preceded by his father Leland Stafford, his mother Lucille Stafford (née Everett), and his Half-Sister Marie Waddell.
A visitation for Jim will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, 3653 W Market St, Akron, Ohio 44333, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home after the funeral service.
James will be laid to rest on a later date in Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, 3653 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333.
