Janice Anne Taggart

Janice Anne Taggart (Post) of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She was 62 years old. Her final day in this life was at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, Ohio where she received care, kindness and the loving attention of her family. Janice succumbed to a chronic illness that she fought for years, and she passed knowing that she is now in the loving care of the Lord.

Her family and friends mourn her loss but will derive comfort remembering Janice as a person of beauty, sharp wit, great sense of humor and many talents. Janice graduated from Copley High School and worked in administrative positions for a number of companies before spending 25 years in accounts receivable at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. During that period, Janice and Mike Taggart shared many happy years – with their rambunctious dog “Murphy” – while enjoying their home and garden.

Janice’s talents would shine when she was pursuing her many and varied creative pursuits! She had a natural flair for design which could be seen in her drawing, flower arranging, gardening and baking. She created gift cards from all sorts of materials and grew flowers, arranged them and sometimes pressed and dried them to create printed art. And baking! Oh, the anticipation when Janice would volunteer to bring Grandma's crescent rolls at family gatherings. (Janice faithfully followed her Grandma Post’s recipe – never mess with perfection!) She was an accomplished bread baker and liked to bake different types and shapes – another example of how her design flair affected everything she attempted. If you were thinking of rearranging your furniture, Janice would be there to make suggestions. If you weren’t thinking of rearranging your furniture, you probably would be after talking with Janice. It was a delight to see the creativity and enthusiasm that she brought to most every situation. Perhaps the best example of enthusiasm was her passion for Ohio State football. She shared with C. David, her dad, a devotion to OSU football that kept their bond especially close on those Saturdays in the fall. What a lively outlook on life she had! How lucky we were to have her for as long as God gave her.

Janice leaves an extended family that loves her, will miss her and will often recall how she brightened their lives. Included among the survivors whose lives were made richer by having Janice in their lives are her mother, Patricia Post, her father, C. David Post and stepmother Joyce Post, and her brothers (she admired so much!) Kenneth Post and Gary Post. Also close to Janice were Gary’s wife Rachael Post, Pat’s long-time companion John Freeman and Ken’s significant other Natalie Petruska. Janice loved her nieces and nephews and watched them grow to adulthood and be joined by spouses or companions whom she loved seeing. They include Isaac Post (Annie), Seth Post (Maureen + Baby Elijah!), Caleb Post (Erin), Susie Post Adams (“Michigan” Seth), Micah Post (Becca), James Post (Olivia), Elizabeth Post Smith (Jason) and Joyce’s son, Chris Chaplin. While many moved away from northeast Ohio, Janice loved them and followed their adventures as young adults.

Calling Hour will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223, on July 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, immediately followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial.

Janice’s final arrangements have been made by Rose Hill Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn. Interment will occur at a later date.
