Joyce Lynne Brownlee ( nee Sandy) passed away after a long battle with dementia. She was surrounded by her loving daughters.
Preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Sandy, daughter Jennifer McClaskey, and ex-husband John Brownlee. Joyce is survived by daughters Jill (Jim) Cygan and Jody (Holley) Goddard, son-in-law Terry McClaskey, grandchildren Hannah (Adolfo) Varela and Justin McClaskey, great- grandchild Sofia Varela, sister Jean Bernert and many cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved very much!
Joy truly was a “joy” to everyone she met. She got her sense of humor from her dad (Dewey) and her grace from her mother (Nana). Joy loved being the life of the party and loved spending time with her family. She was such a giving person and would help anyone in need.
Joy was born and raised in the Akron/North Hill area and was a graduate of St.Vincent St. Marys High School and attended the University of Akron. After raising a family in Norton, she went on to pursue a sales career before taking her ultimate job of being a live-in nanny for her grandchildren.
A special thank you to Gardens of Western Reserve Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown Joy over the past couple years and to the many aides and health care workers who looked after Joy these past five years.
