She was born June 28, 1943, in Dunlap, Tennessee, to parents Carl and Lotha (Stewart) Brown. Linda was a devoted wife, homemaker and gardener, loved flowers, feeding birds (and occasional squirrels), completing crossword puzzles, and made the best pecan pie, ever!
Linda is survived by her son Darryle (Kimberly) Bates, her grandchildren Hayden and Rachael Bates, as well as her siblings: Joanne Nelms, Arline (Robert) Lane, Judy (Jim) Smith, Taylor (Judy) Brown, Freddie Brown, and Clayton Brown.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Bates, and her siblings: Pauline Nair, Geneva Pascoe, Carlene Smith, Novella Campbell, Gordon Brown, and Carlos Brown.
Friends and family will be received Monday, December 3, 2018, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM with the funeral service following at 6:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333. Private interment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Linda's name to Samaritan's Purse or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
