Lucille A Tarr, Born June 20, 1925 to Frederick and Ruth Dunn Sheldon in Youngstown, Ohio. She entered into rest November 21, 2012 at the age of 87. As a young child her family moved to Columbiana, Ohio where she graduated from North Lima High School.
Lucille attended Akron City Hospital School of Nursing and recently celebrated her 60th class reunion. She was a long time resident of Akron before moving to Wadsworth. She worked as an office nurse, a hospital nurse and lastly as an industrial nurse for Babcock and Wilcox. She always worked hard with pride and compassion.
She loved her children, her husband, and all her family and friends. She also loved baseball, football, fairs, festivals, antiquing, coupons!, music and her God.
How does anyone put a person or a life into words? She was Mom and Grandma to dozens. She was the rock of the family, full of love, compassion, warmth, giving , kindness, determination and needed common sense.
Lucille is survived by 2 daughters; Dorothy J.(Thomas G. Sr.)Phillips of Norton and Dr. Kathleen L. Tarr of St. Louis and a stepson John S. Tarr of CA. She is survived by two grandsons: Thomas G. Phillips Jr and Michael W. (Monica) Phillips and a 1 great-granddaughter, Jaime Raymond. She was loved was loved by multitudes of family and friends. Everyone she met loved her and became family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George M. Tarr, Sr. They are together again. Also deceased are two infant sons Richard Allen Tarr and Baby Boy Tarr. She was also predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
During her last illness she was typically worried about everyone else. At the time of her passing she was peaceful and calm, surrounded by family, getting a neck rub and hearing her favorite old hymns. He passing leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
Graveside service will be held Monday November 26th 11am at the CATAVOLOS FUNERAL HOME 3653 West Market Street Fairlawn where at Lucille’s request gathering time will be 10am until graveside services. Following the services there will be a luncheon at the family home in Wadsworth. Those who knew Lucille will know the family will be serving sandwiches and chocolate cake.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Akron Chapters of The Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Heart Association.
